Warriors in the Pros: Bess, Ulbrich, Colt
Some positive news for Davone Bess, from today's Miami Dolphins practice:

Beck got the least work, but he threw a touchdown pass on a fade to Davone Bess, who jumped over Chris Roberson to get it. It was a beautiful catch and throw. Not just at receiver, but on special teams as well:
Speaking of Bess, it appears that he's been moved up the depth chart. He's now the slot receiver with the starting unit. Greg Camarillo played that role in Saturday's exhibition game, and Ernest Wilford held it last week after getting unseated by Derek Hagan for the starting spot.
Bess handled a lot of the punt returns in Monday's practice and I suspect he'll be the receiver getting the tryout as a returner against the Jaguars. At 49ers practice, Jeff Ulbrich shared his thoughts after the 49ers signed Takeo Spikes.
Jeff Ulbrich was diplomatic about his reaction to Spikes' arrival with the team. He did not seem to pleased to hear that the 49ers might be concerned about his ability to remain healthy at the strong inside position. "I haven't missed a practice in three years," Ulbrich said. He has played all 16 games in three of the past four seasons. In 2005, his season ended after five games with a torn biceps muscle. The Redskins blog has some photos of Colt Brennan, from a fan contest they're running.
"(Spikes) is a great football player and a great addition to this team," Ulbrich said. "He'll push me and I'll push him. If my role changes from defense to special teams, I'll embrace that. (Special teams coordinator) Al (Everest) is one of the funnest guys in the world to play for."

Still not accustomed to seeing the green and white of University of Hawai’i athletics at Redskins Park, but as the Cult of Colt grows I probably should get used to it.He speaks to a fan who wore a UH #15 jersey to the Redskins Rides car show yesterday.
In a sea of burgundy and gold, Dan has found an alternative way to demonstrate his fanhood. “I was a Redskins fan back in the days when Mark Rypien used to throw the ball around, but I kind of lost touch” he says. “Colt is really what brought me back.” There’s some family influence here as well — his wife Dolores is a big Hawai’i fan, and is also hugely excited for Colt to come to town.
