Draft Update: Pilares to the Panthers

In addition to Salas that got picked up by the Rams in the 4th, the Carolina Panthers selected Kealoha Pilares with first pick in the 5th round.
Star Advertiser coverage.
Congratulations Kealoha!

Green to Packers, Salas to Rams!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to former Warrior Alex Green being selected as the 96 pick in the 3rd round last night.

Here's some coverage from all over the place.

Star-Advertiser's breaking news.
"He can catch the ball out of the backfield, he's an explosive back. For his size, there weren't many guys coming out in the draft that can run like he can. And watching him on film, he really stuck out in that he got hit a couple times downfield, they were big hits, and he popped right back up and he'd run back to the huddle and guys on the offense rally around him."

and more coverage from Stephen Tsai in today's paper:
“That was my goal from Day 1, when I went to a junior college,” Green said. “I wanted to take care of my family. They made a lot of sacrifices for me. I thought the best way to do it was to play football. Football is like a business. I’m grateful for the career.”

Analysis from ESPN.com
He has an excellent blend of bulk, foot quickness and top-end speed. He moves well laterally and there is a lot to like about his receiving skills on third down.

BREAKING NEWS: Greg Salas just picked up by the St. Louis Rams in round 4, pick number 112.

Hopefully more good news to come!

Spring ball concludes with the Warrior Bowl

Here's a few recaps.

Defense dominates the scrimmage as Stephen Tsai of the Star-Advertiser reports.
Daily-Lyles said: “We spent hours and hours on one coverage. It’s paying off now. We’re getting it. The concepts are really easy to us now. It’s pretty simple: See the ball. See the man with the ball. Tackle the man with the ball.”

Ferd Lewis covers two sport star Miah Ostrowski
In one firecracker package UH has both a starting point guard in basketball and, as last night's Warrior Bowl scrimmage conclusion to spring practice reminded, a starting slotback in football.

Warriors on the Big Isle

Yesterday, the Warriors took the show on the road, to Hilo, on the Big Island to share with Warrior fans there.

And courtesy of H20 from SportsHawaii, here's a link to more videos from the fun filled day.

Here's a few: (more in the link above)

Here's some coverage by Dave Reardon and Stephen Tsai from the Star-Advertiser.
Running back Hogan Rosehill and slot Kana Silva returned to the field of their high school exploits, and laughed about how the cloudy skies and sleepy neighborhood hadn't changed. But they know their history, and they know football has changed on the island of Hawaii.

Two weeks after spending three months as the UH basketball team's point guard, Miah Ostrowski has made an easy readjustment as the football Warriors' No. 1 right slotback.
In yesterday's scrimmage on the Kamehameha-Hawaii campus, Ostrowski caught two passes for 53 yards, including a 44-yarder for the event's only touchdown.
