Keenan Jones Charged

Rod Ohira writes that Keenan Jones has been charged with two felonies:
A University of Hawai'i football player recently granted a fifth year of eligibility by the NCAA was charged Saturday with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and second-degree assault, both felony offenses.

The new charges against 22-year-old Keenan Jones compounds his mounting problems.
Details are in the article. As for his status with the team:
"He will be suspended indefinitely until the formal investigation is completed," UH football coach Greg McMackin said today through a spokesman of the Jones' situation.
...

UPDATE (3/28/08): Keenan Jones talks about the charges brought against him in this video segment from KHNL.

LATE LATE UPDATE (4/3/2009): Jones participated in UH's Pro Day and told Stephen Tsai that all charges were dropped.
Jones, a cornerback, was supposed to be a senior during the 2008 season. But a year ago, he was placed on indefinite suspension after being arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse. Although the case was eventually dismissed, Jones never was reinstated.

"I was never charged," Jones said yesterday. "They dropped everything. But it took almost a whole year for them to do even that."

Jones eventually returned to his family's home in Los Angeles.

"I went back to my dad's house and got my head on straight," Jones said.

Lol isn't this the guy that had that 15-yard penalty for smoking the punt returner before he got the ball in the Sugar Bowl? Kick his ass off the team, it's guys like that that give us a "thuggish" reputation around the country.

    What a tool.

Oh snap! Coach Mac needs to kick this guy off the team and rescind the scholarship to any St. Louis football players who egged people. Hawaii already has a bad rep for being thuggish...

Way to go Coach McMackin! Toe the line until the formal investigation is completed. We need to further establishe good discipline with these student/athletes. I feel for Coach because these are not his recruits. However, we should wait until a formal investigation and or prosecution is completed until passing judgment on Jones. He might of had "privilege", "license", or "mistake" with the unlawful entry. Still innocent until proven guilty.

As for the Saint Louis kids, I hope the parents voluntarily offer to pay for the damages to the houses in Kaneohe for egging. After that, make the kids work construction during the summer to pay their parents back. They need to learn the consequences of their actions.

All you guys are quick to jump to conclusions. I am his older brother and everything that this girl is stating he's doing is false. She has major issues and needs professional help. The truth will in fact come out and you all will feel very stupid.

I always thinking guys like this have problems too. But it is true people can be misunderstood and you can't judge people by what's in the paper. This guy your talking about is my cousin. He's a great person, with an aggressive personality on the football field. He's also young and is learning about life like everyone else at 22. Give him a break! And stop being the chicken behind the keyboard and talking bad about people you don't know.

wow i've been looking for this guy since the first punt return in the Sugar Bowl. This guy needs to be kicked off the Hawaii team, put in jail, and rapped. Glad to hear that karma actually works. I hate this thug. By the way, Hawaii fans are really nice people and are a class act. Huge UGA fan. Good luck next year.
