Selection Committee, Celebration of Champions Week, JJ Letters

Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw has announced the members of the UH football head coach selection committee. They are:
* Tony Guerrero, Chair of Ahahui Koa Anuenue and Vice Chair of First Hawaiian Bank
* Debra Ishii, Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, UHM
* Adam Leonard, UHM student-athlete and football team member
* Dee Jay Mailer, CEO of the Kamehameha Schools
* Peter Nicholson, UHM Professor and Faculty Athletics Representative
* John K. Tsui, Chair of Towne Realty Development and former President and Chief Operating Officer of First Hawaiian Bank
* Artie Wilson, Partner and Realtor, Prudential Locations
Committee Co-Chairs will be Associate Athletics Director Carl Clapp and Chancellor Hinshaw.
Also from the statement:
"We will move quickly to select the best possible candidate to serve as our Head Football Coach. The new coach must be someone who can lead a smooth transition for current team members, who appreciates the special connection between UH athletics and the people of Hawai'i, and who will continue to produce successful student-athletes," said Chancellor Hinshaw.

"The members of the selection committee were chosen for their understanding of the relationship between UH athletics and our community," she said.
Sounds good.

yep keep up the great updates, glad that UH is up to speed w/ the selection of the new HC. Too bad, UH didn't address these issues earlier, but at least they did address them and the letter sounds as though they are asking JJ to forgive them; to do everything in their power to keep him. As far as JJ's letter is concerned, whatevers, seeing him in that SMU garb and giving that "I believe" speech, well nice ad Coach, but it sounds like a "Dear John" letter too late. Just rub more salt into the wound. Move on Hawaii, to bigger and better things, because this may be a big blessing in disquise. We still have our ohana and with the world watching us, we will stand store in the face of adversities, we are Hawaii, we are a part of the aina. Great job Tombo! Bad timing UH and June Jones.

thanks ww. it does sound silly with the gnashing of teeth that went on a week ago, but maybe this really is a blessing in disguise. just trying to be optimistic, and with mcmackin (probably) as our head coach i think UH will be fine.
