Mitch Farney Dies

University of Hawaii football player Mitch Farney died last night in Arizona after collapsing while playing basketball, his family confirmed this morning.

Farney, who played slotback, reshirted in 2006, his first season at UH. He was used mostly on the scout team this past season.

Farney, who was on scholarship, had planned to transfer to Weber State in Utah.

Farney was in the process of transferring to Weber State.

"He was a wonderful young man. His parents did a great job with him," Lee said. "He was looking forward to playing us next season."
