June Jones to Meet with SMU

University of Hawai'i football coach June Jones today told The Advertiser that he will travel to Dallas tomorrow to meet with Southern Methodist University officials about its vacant head coaching job.I still believe. Howevah... how did it come to this point? Just hoping he's tripping SMU... yeah, that makes sense. Oh well, we'll wait and see how this turns out.
Jones said SMU has not made an official offer, but one is expected during tomorrow's meeting. Jones said most of the contact has been between SMU and his agent, Leigh Steinberg, who was not immediately available for comment today.
Jones acknowledged that Steinberg received an offer from UH last night.

Gah, this is retarded.
There should have been an offer ready for Jones the minute the Sugar Bowl was over (win or lose).
How do you not re-sign the coach that has brought the school it's greatest success?

I don't know why you would leave Hawaii for SMU. I don't think he's hurting for money. He could stay at Hawaii and retire.

Where did you see that? SMU has an offer on the table but the interview has yet to happen (it's almost 6:00 AM in Texas as of right now) and UH has reportedly matched the initial offer.

Moot point now but thanks anyway. After following the Michigan head coach debacle I'm wary of even the most trustworthy of sources. Not the same animal but still, it's the net where your mileage may vary.
