A 2011 game between Hawaii and Washington State has been canceled, UH announced today. At least they're giving advanced notice, unlike some other colleges!
A release from UH said athletic director Jim Donovan received a letter from Washington State last week notifying him of WSU’s intent to cancel the game, originally scheduled for Nov. 26, 2011 at Aloha Stadium.
Washington State will have to pay UH $300,000 for pulling out of the game. According to the release, Washington State cited changes in the Pac-10’s scheduling for the 2011 season as the reason for pulling out of the game, which would have been the final game of a three-game contract.
In addition to Kaneshiro's notes, HawaiiAthletics.com has some quotes from Greg Alexander and Greg Salas.
