WitP: Patek Released, Sopoaga, Bess

Former UH safety Jacob Patek has been released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Isaac Sopoaga talks about how offseason practices and mini-camps have been going for the 49ers defense.
“Everything went well this weekend, it all went smooth,” defensive lineman Isaac Sopoaga said. “There are a couple of areas that we need to get better on, but other than that this minicamp was great. I feel like we’re more confident on defense compared to last year and that’s a good thing.”
And on the Bleacher Report, Chris DiLeo lists Davone Bess among his top 5 NFL slot receivers.
"Da-Bess” came out of Hawaii with a reputation for being an extremely hard-working, unselfish player.

He brought this attitude with him to Miami as he quietly recorded a respectable 54 receptions for 554 yards and a touchdown as a rookie in 2008.
Bess is not big at 5’10” and 190 pounds, but he has great hands and has spectacular after-the-catch ability.

He has developed a good chemistry with quarterback Chad Pennington, and with little competition for the slot receiver role, Bess should continue to build upon his successful rookie campaign.
