Hawaii Bowl, All-Star Doubleheader, Etc.

Hawaii Bowl tickets are selling pretty quickly.
As of mid-day yesterday, Matlin said approximately 32,000 tickets had been issued for the game, this despite a brief weather-related outage yesterday.

Approximately 12,000 tickets, including 5,000 in the first 24 hours, have been sold since Sunday.

"It is a very good pace," Matlin said. "For anybody who is thinking of attending the game, I'd buy now."
Ferd Lewis details how UH might lose money despite the Hawaii Bowl payout. He contrasts that with Notre Dame, which gets $1.3 million from the BCS just for being Notre Dame.

Christian McCollum of IrishEyes has some quotes from Greg McMackin about his past history against Charlie Weis, preparing for the Hawaii Bowl, and the QB situation early in the season. Coach Mack also has an injury update on Kealoha Pilares and Ryan Mouton:
Hawaii will get lifts from the return of two injured players.

“We’re going to get Ryan Mouton back healthy and he’s our best defensive player or one of our best defensive players,” McMackin said. “Then we’re going to get Kealoha Pilares who is our best offensive player. He’s a running back/slotback that we haven’t had for about the last three weeks.”
Great news.

Brawling Hibernian, a Notre Dame fan blog, has a fairly excellent Notre Dame Fans' Guide to Hawaii.

Speaking of Notre Dame fan blogs, we'll be doing a Q&A with Her Loyal Sons in the days leading up to the game. Stay tuned!

The Star-Bulletin has some news and notes about Benson Maʻafala's commitment to UH and tonight's prep all-star doubleheader.

Wes Nakama and Paul Honda have news about some of the players and coaches participating in tonight's games.

And Dave Reardon has some thoughts and observations about a bunch of different things, including:
» Pro Bowl rosters will be announced next week.

Too bad the game probably won't be here when Samson Satele makes it in 2010.
» Jake Ingram = at least 10 years in NFL.

Long snappers this skilled are extremely rare, and Trusted Scout tells me he'll be drafted.

UH pro liaison Rich Miano says he's in the Senior Bowl.
