The Star-Bulletin has news that defensive tackle Zack Masch will become a Warrior.
Zach Masch, an incoming junior from Arizona Western College, committed to Hawaii after visiting the campus and attending the game against the Bearcats.Congrats to Zack and UH! Brian Hamilton of TheUnion.com profiles Masch.
"It was the family atmosphere with the players and the fans at the game were great," Masch said.
Masch (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) played defensive tackle for Arizona Western and said he will enroll in school for the spring semester.
“I kind of feel like I deserve to go to Hawaii after working so hard in the freakin’ heat in Yuma (Ariz.),” Masch said Monday night, after announcing that he will accept a full-ride scholarship to play football for the University of Hawaii in 2009.
“It just kind of hit me when I was there,” he said. “What hit me the most was their fans were just crazy, really into it, really supporting the team.
“And the team has a real good family thing going on. You know, that’s what makes a team play its best.”
When he arrives for school next semester, there will be at least one familiar face awaiting him. Former NU quarterback Steele Jantz is a redshirt freshman with the Warriors. He and Masch were teammates with the Miners throughout the 2007 season.
