Recruits, Hawaii All-Star Games, Daily-Lyles

Jason Kaneshiro talks to JC defensive backs Aaron Brown and Lametrius Davis, who both commited to UH in the past few days.
Brown and Davis had drawn interest from Pac-10 programs, but said they wouldn't make additional visits after committing to UH.

"They let me take in the experience, the crowd, the game atmosphere," said Brown, who was also in contact with Arizona State, Oregon and UCLA before choosing UH. "The players, the coaches, they all had positive attitudes, positive outlooks on everything. It was a good fit.

"(The Saddleback coaches) just told me to go open-minded and just take it all in. I did exactly that and made my decision."
Kaneshiro also has a list of UH recruits participating in tomorrow's Hawaii All-Star Football Classic doubleheader.

Via Chawan-pilation, KGMB previewed the games and interviewed Cayman Shutter, Corey Nielsen, Billy Ray Stutzmann and Manti Te'o.

Paul Honda previews the games and talks to some of the players involved.

Wes Nakama highlights a few of the very fast Mainland receivers.

And Long Beach Poly linebacker George Daily-Lyles, who may still be committed to UH, is profiled by Robert Morales of the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
But Daily-Lyles got himself together. And after notching 85 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks as a junior, he has come back with a staggering 140 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery this season.

Daily-Lyles is not what one would call big for a middle linebacker. He stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 222 pounds. But Jackrabbits coach Raul Lara said Daily-Lyles' intangibles more than make up for that.

"Tenacity, and he's a real smart football player," Lara said, when asked to assess Daily-Lyles. "He really does his homework. He likes to execute the game plan and he's really on top of things. He is kind of like a Mike Singletary (former Chicago Bears linebacker) kind of guy, where they really study a lot of film.

"They know they are undersized and they use the other tactics to their advantage. For instance, George, when he sees something that is going on on the field, he anticipates what is happening and he goes out there and makes the play."
