Notre Dame News

Here are some articles from the past couple days about Notre Dame accepting the Hawaii Bowl invite.

"Irish want to make most of Hawaii Bowl" by Eric Hansen of NBCSports.com, looks at politics and logistics of Notre Dame choosing to play in the Hawaii Bowl as opposed to other options they had.

"Trouble in paradise?" by Lou Somogyi of BlueAndGold.com, reviews past close calls the Irish have had against UH.

"Irish Looking Forward to Hawai'i" by Christian McCollum of IrishEyes, has lots of quotes from Notre Dame players Maurice Crum, David Grimes and David Bruton.
“Coach Weis came to the captains and the leadership guys and just kind of asked us from our standpoint, what do we think is best for the team,” Crum said. “There were some options, they all had their pros and cons.”

The decision, however, was not unanimous.

“Being that I’m from Detroit, I kind of fought it, my vote was for the Motor City Bowl,” Grimes said. “I mean Detroit, we have better weather than Hawai’i.”
"Irish Excited for Hawaii" - some video from WSBT in South Bend.

"Irish warming up to game" by Tom Coyne of the AP has a lot of the same quotes.

"Notre Dame hopes to bowl over drought" by Ferd Lewis takes a look at Notre Dame's bowl-loss streak.

"Christmas gift for Warriors" by Ferd, who writes that UH is fortunate to have a shot at the Golden Domers.

UPDATE: The live, loco and late-breaking reporters over at FreakCrazy.com have what appear to be the scoops on a brewing mascot rivalry.
Accompanying the football team will be the Notre Dame Leprechaun. A short fellow with a goofy hat that acts as though the team is 12-0 will be gracing the Aloha Stadium sidelines this Christmas Eve. Vili the Warrior wanted none of it so he will debut a new persona come this Hawaii Bowl. Let us introduce you to Vilichaun.

Holy moly.
