Scout Bowl Recaps, Future Warriors Update

Jason Kaneshiro has a recap of yesterday's Scout Bowl. He takes a look at some of the redshirting receivers who participated in the game:
Redshirt freshman Joe Avery went high to snare a throw from Shane Austin for the scrimmage-winning touchdown for the team captained by seniors Adam Leonard and Keala Watson, avenging a loss in UH's first bye week of the season.

Also, playing key roles were juniors Dustin Blount, Mike Tinoco, Ryan Henry and Matt Kiel, all receivers who are redshirting this season.

"It's very good for me," Henry said of preserving a year of eligibility. "It gives me a chance to pick up on the offense, then I have another spring ball and another fall camp. I get a head start in school and can graduate after my senior year.
In his article about Wade Keli'ikipi's commit, Stephen Tsai has some notes from the game.

Jason Kaneshiro writes about recent commits Chad Lopati and Kevin Williams.

Some future Warriors will be taking part in the just-announced Hawaii All-Star Football Classic.
Hawaii/Polynesia's roster already includes Punahou linebacker Manti Te'o, Hilo offensive lineman Jordan Loeffler, Baldwin defensive end Mana Rosa (Oregon State) and Waimea defensive lineman Siasau Matagiese.

UH recruits in the lineup include Gahr (Calif.) quarterback Corey Nielsen and Fagaitu (American Samoa) quarterback/safety Joey Iosefa.
Speaking of Corey Nielsen, he had a big game for Gahr High School last Friday, going 23 of 31 for 400 yards and 4 TDs. He also ran for a TD. Teammate and fellow UH commit Deondre Powell had 9 catches for 138 yards and TD.

One of Nielsen's touchdown passes was featured on the November 10th edition of Roggin's Heroes (2nd clip):

Saint Louis receiver Billy Ray Stutzmann had 10 catches for 135 yards in last week's victory over Kamehameha. The Crusaders face Punahou (and UH recruit Kimo Makaula) tonight.

And offensive lineman Whitley Fehoko, son of Vili, will be walking on next spring. Check out his profile, as well as those of other UH recruits and prospects in the SportsHawaii.com 2009 UH recruiting thread.

Tombo, thank you for keeping up with UH recruiting and posting how some of those recruits are currently doing.

Recently, UH football news has been slow due to the bye week, two consecutive games on the mainland and Rainbow Basketball gearing up.

I am sure everyone that comes to your site fully appreciates your dedication to UH football.
