WitP: Ikaika, Colt, Bess, LaBoy, LP

Ikaika Alama-Francis had three tackles in today's preseason Lions vs Bengals matchup.

Chawan Cut has a news compilation about Ikaika, Dane Uperesa and Colt Brennan.

It includes footage from a press conference where Redskins coach Jim Zorn talks about Colt. Zorn's comments are excerpted in this Washington Post article.
In the quarter, Brennan completed 4 of 5 passes for 79 yards with a touchdown and had a 158.3 passer rating. Brennan also had big numbers (9 of 10 for 123 yards and two touchdowns with a 157.5 passer rating) in a 30-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 3, "but there's a lot more distance that he has to go, and to be honest with you, he knows it," Zorn said. "He won't be strutting around here. He shouldn't be strutting his stuff.

"He has great vision. He's made some heads-up plays and we've had success. I really like all that, [but] I'm looking for, maybe I want more, but I want better technique. I want him to use the kind of techniques that are going to take him further down the road. We were all talking differently after the Buffalo game [Brennan went 4 for 8 for 37 yards] when everybody said: 'Oh, Colt came down to earth. Now, he's in outer space again.' "
"Lukeo4321" uploaded a post-game interview with Colt last night.

Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post thinks Davone Bess may have hurt himself after committing two penalties in yesterday's Dolphins game.
WR Davone Bess: The undrafted rookie, who had moved up the depth chart to No. 3 receiver, had two first-half penalties. The second one negated a first down on the final drive of the first half.
cgolden of the Revenge of the Birds blog writes that Travis LaBoy helped himself leading the Cardinals in tackles and sacks in yesterday's game.
LaBoy led the team in tackles and added two sacks. Considering that he backs up Bertrand Berry who didn't record a single tackle, LaBoy could be making a serious push for the starting job.
A Chicago Sun-Times blog called "Inside the Bears" (ewwww) has a positive mention of Leonard Peters.
Rookie linebacker Joey LaRocque played hard on special teams. Ditto second-year safety Leonard Peters, who made a few hard hits.

In the years that Colt was doing great at Hawaii, Colt never went around strutting anything. Even with all the NCAA passing records he set, he was always down to earth and basically a really nice guy. Maybe anyone else would be strutting around but not Colt--the coach will learn that Colt always tries hard and is always willing to learn more.
