Status Report, Rolo, Weber, Etc.

Jason Kaneshiro takes a look back at the first two weeks of practice and looks ahead to the next two.
As for the players - including several projected starters on defense - who've missed practice time with various ailments, McMackin said he isn't concerned over the early bruises.

"We have two weeks to the ballgame and most everybody's going to be back (this) week," McMackin said. "The only two guys out are Rocky (Savaiigaea) and Blaze (Soares), everybody else we're just making sure they're OK.

"We're fine, we're just treating anything and it gives the backups reps, so it just makes us stronger."
Stephen Tsai profiles QB coach Nick Rolovich.
"I just knew Rolo would be a great coach," UH head coach Greg McMackin said. "I don't care about whatever. He's a leader. He's got heart. He knows our system, and he knows how to teach it. He's run it. He's played it. He knows it as well as any quarterback coach in the country."
Dave Reardon highlights UH's second opponent, Weber State, and talks to Hiram de Fries, born and raised in Hawaii, but now helping out the Gators.
