Spring Previews

The UH Athletics Department has a spring preview.
The strength of this year's team will be its defense, including the front seven of which linebackers Adam Leonard, Solomon Elimimian, and Blaze Soares, and linemen Fale Laeli, David Veikune, John Fonoti, Joshua Leonard, and Keala Watson all saw significant playing time. Leonard, Elimimian, and Veikune were first-team all-WAC selections. The Warriors will need to find a replacement for the captain Michael Lafaele, who was a two-year starter at tackle.
Also from that article is a link to a PDF of the 2008 Spring Football Prospectus, which includes lots of info, rosters, schedules, news, notes, stats, etc.

Stephen Tsai has a list of "starting points" -- players who will begin spring on the first team. He also has some notes about the upcoming pro day.

The Star-Bulletin will have lots of spring football news in the next few days.
Over the next two days, the Star-Bulletin sports staff will preview spring practice and give local football fans some insight to the coming campaign that features games with Florida, Oregon State, Boise State and Fresno State on the road, and Nevada, Washington State and Cincinnati at home.
There will also be position breakdowns, interviews and features. Today, Dave Reardon takes a look at the offensive line.
Keith AhSoon started all 13 games at left tackle for Hawaii last season, but the senior will open spring practice Monday one spot closer to the center.

"We're going to give him the first go at left guard," offensive line coach Brian Smith said yesterday. "If for some reason he doesn't pick it up there, we can move him back."

Either way, it will be crowded at left tackle. Ray Hisatake, Aaron Kia and Laupepa Letuli will get plenty of spring reps there.
