Frazier Officially Out

UH is buying out his contract. Statement from UH, via the Star-Bulletin:
"The University of Hawaii at Manoa and Herman Frazier recognize that in the best interests of the athletics program, UH Manoa will buy out Mr. Frazier’s contract which expires on July 31, 2010, for the sum of $312,510, in accordance with his Appointment Agreement," according to a news release from the UH.

"The details of the agreement are yet to be finalized and require the approval of the Board of Regents.

"Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw intends to recommend to the Board the appointment of Associate Athletics Director Carl Clapp as Acting Athletic Director. Until the Board acts, Clapp will be handling the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Department, including working with the administration to secure a new head football coach," the announcement says.
That's a lot of money, though in the long run probably worth it. And now UH can move on.

As a doctor, if I royally screw up I can get sued and lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. In sports, you can royally screw up, get fired and get paid $325K. Is there something not right with this picture? That being said, good riddance!

I hate to say this, being a local boy and all, but I think the next AD and coach have to be from the mainland (or not someone who grew up here). They'd be less likely to be infected with apathy and adhere to the old boy network.

i believe the complete opposite, the AD especially should have local ties, someone who can work the old boy network for some donations! someone who understands hawaii! well, wherever they grew up doesn't matter, as long as they "get it" and get things done, and don't procrastinate, and appreciate our coaches, players and fans.

In other news, UH is ranked 19th in the final USA Today poll:
    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/appoll.htm
LSU was 1st but Georgia finished 2nd, with three first place votes.
    How AP voters voted:
    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/specials/collegefootball_front/votes/voters.html?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME
The voter from Georgia can bite me since he dropped Hawaii down to 25th yet put Georgia in at 1st. Hey retard, putting Hawaii that low WEAKENS your claim of Georgia at the top.

What about the part of his contract that states something about if he is fired for not doing his job, than he doesn't get a cent. WTF!!! Isn't that what he was fired for!!!! He should not be getting a damn cent!!!!!

Oh well,in any event.. yes, very good riddance!!
