From the Blogs: New Coach Updates
No big news yet, but the big blogs have updates. From Stephen Tsai:
And speaking of blogs, Sportshawaii.com has turned their front page into a blog. Looking good!
The nine-member search committee — co-chairs Virginia Hinshaw and acting AD Carl Clapp count as participants — are meeting with the finalists at an off-campus location. And Dave Reardon's teasing us:
Unless there's an unexpected turn of events — and there doesn't appear to be any looming — Greg McMackin will be introduced as the head coach tomorrow morning.
At least two, and perhaps three, former UH players are poised to join the Warriors offensive coaching staff if Greg McMackin is named head coach.Guess we find out who they are tomorrow, but sounds exciting.
This is exciting, because these guys have coached and played here and on the mainland. They combine youthful energy with plenty of experience for their age. And they are intimately familiar with UH’s offensive schemes. They are the right age to relate to the players without being too close to them.
And speaking of blogs, Sportshawaii.com has turned their front page into a blog. Looking good!

You'll see it in the morning (it's past 1 AM in Hawaii) but McMackin has accepted the deal:

Also, Nick Rolovich!

I doubt Reinebold will want to stay at UH since Call Lee got the DC job. Looks like Coach JR will be off to SMU. Too bad but Coach Lee will prove he's deserving of the position - great football mind and local players have the utmost respect for him...ok, so I might be slightly biased!

We all hoped JR would stay, but you cannot blame him to go to SMU where he might be DC. I hope the young coaches Rolo and Smith can be recruiting gods. They sound impressive in the newspaper, and may just be the key to turning the program up another notch. I sure would really like to see the long time assistant coaches get a good size raise.
