From the Blogs: Bess, Helmets, Define Good

The Leahey & Leahey Live blog has posted audio of their interview with UH receiver Davone Bess, discussing the game, the WAC championship, the fans' reactions, etc.

Stephen Tsai writes that four UH helmets were taken during the post-game celebration and the team is asking for their return, no questions asked. What kind of fan would take the players' helmets? They're the reason you were celebrating!

And Dave Reardon wonders if a team that has 4 wins and 8 losses deserves to be called a "good team." Good or not, the Huskies are gonna bring it, and they'll be a great challenge for the Warriors.

Wait a minute..you're telling me that fans stole UH helmets? How sad is that. Whatever happened to class. Not to mention the week long tv broadcasts from JJ saying for fans not to throw stuff to anyone or on the field. Do they need to make another one saying "please fans when running onto the field please don't steal your OWN teams helmet". This has to be the first stealing incident I've heard mentioning fans when rushing onto the field. Lets hope the culprits have class and are responsible in returning the head gear. THey are not only hurting the Hawaii fan image, but the Warriors sucess season so far.

i actually saw a fan trying to take Colt's helmet in one of the newsclips. It looks like he got it back, but auwe! guarantee that helmet ends up on ebay.

This is really unfortunate. It usually takes a bit of time to break in a helmet so that it fits a player properly so they have a comfortable and safe fit. If these players are forced to use new helmets for next week's game, that might impair their playing ability to some limited degree. I sure hope this wasn't the helmet of one of the receivers or running backs as they really need good fitting helmets.

Shame you guys, return the helmets! Not nice, where is the Aloha...the enemy strikes again. I pray that you guys return them intact. I don't think a fan would take them, probably someone who made a big bet on Boise, and was upset so he took it w/ his friends. Someone going get it on judgement day! God knows all! PS pls blog other sites, got no backup, no Hawaii fans there. A few will do.....
