Spring Day 4

Stephen Tsai has some details from Day 4 of spring practice. Here's an excerpt from the Warrior Beat.
• Cameron Allen-Jones received a lot of work as tight end/H-back/big body. Brennan said Allen-Jones is a good receiver.
• Punahou's Miah Ostrowski attended practice.
• Blaze Soares has been impressive as the strong-side linebacker.
• Did I mention that middle linebacker Solomon Elimimian is now wearing No. 17?
• Or that right cornerback Myron Newberry is No. 3?

* * *

Brennan has taken out a career insurance policy.
If you read the rest of the post you'll find more info, as well as news that there will be photos and video on the honoluluadvertiser.com website a little later today. I'll link to it when it's up.

UPDATE: Link to the video is here. Link to some photos is here. And link to the article where I got those links is here.

Also, NelsonO posted his observations on Sportshawaii.com. Here's an excerpt:
I thought wide receiver Greg Salas had a nice day catching ball.

No changes to the first team defense as reported by Irse last week. Here is how the second team defense lined up today. Guyton Galdeira and Ryan Keomaka at the corners. Keao Monteilh and Desmond Thomas at safeties.

Brashton Satele at middle linebacker flanked by CJ Allen-Jones and Brad Kalilimoku.
More to read if you click through. You can also see Scott's photos from previous practices in the Sportshawaii.com Gallery.

    Tombo,
When do you think they will reveal the final schedule?????

I think that they have run out of options and are looking for a face saving strategy. Perhaps they are petitioning the NCAA to allow them to count the small school games.

in the comments on his blog, stephen tsai thinks we'll just be playing 12 games this year, with one of those D-1AA games not counting for jack. unless some miracle happens, that's the way it's looking, unfortunately. i think i'll start swearing on my blog again.

UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! You know the guy I really feel sorry for is Brennan. He unselfishly gave it up to return and Frazier blows the schedule, at least that is the way it is looking. I hope I am wrong. You gotta give it to Brennan, he has exhibited a lot of class whenever he has talked w/ the press. He could have been venting liking us, but has kept his comments tight and acted w/ nothing but class. Maybe this is a sign of the way the team will play this year???? Let's hope so......If they win the WAC, maybe this will be all forgotten.

Looking down the line, the one further problem I see is that if UH makes it to the Hawaii Bowl, isn't the opponent from the MAC or Conf USA this year? If so, that will really limit Hawaii's chances of playing a top ranked team......oh well, guess we gotta make it there first.

yeah, gotta give it up to brennan. he's all class and he gave up a lot to come back and play for the warriors again. i just hope he has a good season and leads us to a WAC championship! and further down the line, i hope he comes back in 2027 to be our head coach!

but anyway, i'm just pissed that with this schedule, it's gonna be tough to get any respect no matter how good the warriors do. i've said before that the naysayers are gonna find things to nitpick about anyway, but this is like throwing chum into shark-infested waters. nonetheless we'll be cheering on the warriors no matter who they play, even if one of those games turns out to be an exhibition game. i still can't believe frazier turned down louisville, didn't pursue BYU, and i'm sure there are other teams that just slipped away.

and if UH plays in the hawaii bowl, it looks like it'll be a conference USA team. who knows, maybe the conference will do well and UH will have a good game on december 23rd. we'll see how it goes. one game at a time!

    Tombo,
Amen. I totally agree w/ you.

And that was a great post re NMSU. You know, if NMSU, SJS and Fresno do well this year and beat their tough opponents, then just maybe this will elevate our schedule quality. Mumme has done an outstanding job w/ what he has. Those guys were tough last year. And Tomey is always dangerous. Heck, they had Boise beat till time ran out.

Maybe all is lost if these guys pull thru.

    Tombo,
In my last line, I meant to say that "Maybe all is NOT lost if these guys pull thru."
