Stay Jerry Stay! / Satele Diary

Awww man!
Hawaii assistant football coach Mouse Davis said today it is likely he will be Jerry Glanville's offensive coordinator at Portland State if Glanville becomes the PSU head coach next week as expected.

"I think it's up to Jerry's wife (Brenda) whether he takes the job, but if he does, I'll probably go run the offense," Davis said in a phone interview from the Big Island, where he was getting ready for a round of golf.
Sounds like it's as good as done, doesn't it? Dave Reardon also writes:
UH head coach June Jones declined to comment, other than to say there are "several options" if Glanville leaves, including current UH defensive line coach Jeff Reinebold.
While I think Coach Reinebold would be a great heir to the defensive coordinator throne, Jerry cannot leave yet! This upcoming year will be even better than last! It'll be Jerry's crowning achievement! He'll get Division I-A offers next year! Reader Niall came up with a great idea. If you want to write a letter to Jerry, letting him know how much he is appreciated, maybe listing all the reasons for him to stay, perhaps offering to cook him some food, or offering backrubs from Miss Momi Lomi Lomi, you can write him at:

Coach Jerry Glanville
c/o University of Hawai'i Sports Media Relations
1337 Lower Campus Road
Honolulu, HI 96822

That address is in the UH football press releases. I'll try to find out if there's an e-mail address out there, because it sounds like he'll make his decision early next week, if not sooner! Stay Jerry stay! WWCD? WDCD?! Eh?

And in other, less forlorn news, Samson Satele writes an NFL Combine diary for the Advertiser. Here's an excerpt:
Today I met with eight teams in a hotel room at different times. You get to meet the GM, the o-line coach, maybe the head coach, and a lot of scouts. There were 20 guys looking and listening. You've got to do it.

A lot of teams have been showing interest. Cleveland, Green Bay, Miami and Philadelphia have shown the most interest. I don't want to let it get to my head. I have to remember it's not like college. I don't get to choose a team. They pick you.

If I work hard, things will work out.
Hope all goes well this weekend.
