Warriors in the Pros: Colt Brennan Update
According to Redskins.com, Washington plans to place Colt Brennan on injured reserve, which would sideline him for the season.
UPDATE: From the Washington Times, Colt may need surgery.
The popular second-year player has been fighting a nagging hamstring injury that he reaggravated against Jacksonville on Thursday night. An MRI exam revealed a tear of the hamstring. Brennan also has a hip injury. However, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Chase Daniel may still be waived.
"He could be out for a while with his hamstring," head coach Jim Zorn told Weisman. "He’s a guy we need to get rehabbed. For us, it’s an opportunity to not keep putting a Band-Aid on it."
Zorn informed Brennan of the decision on Friday but the planned move came too late to be sent to the NFL by the 4 p.m. ET deadline for transactions.
Still, Daniel will not make the 53-man roster and is unlikely to be a practice squad candidate, a team source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Thanks to Patty G for the news.
The Redskins plan to carry just 2 quarterbacks on the 53-man roster -- Jason Campbell and Todd Collins.
UPDATE: From the Washington Times, Colt may need surgery.
According to a source close to Brennan, here's the latest.UPDATE 2: Chase Daniel may be kept after all. From his Twitter feed:
Brennan has a torn left labrum in his hip and although he could practice and potentially play through it, the decision is to have surgery. He will be placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.
Brennan had surgery for the same injury in his right hip after his last college season, which probably played into him dropping to the Redskins in the seventh round.
The hip injury happened against Baltimore and Brennan then hurt his hamstring Thursday night.
News so far: I'm on waivers for the time being, was told they want me back if I clear waivers for practice squad...I'll know for sure tom.
