LaTech Reviews, Boise Previews

Dave Reardon reviews five big plays from the Louisiana Tech game in this week's Warriors Replay.

Jason Kaneshiro takes a look ahead to the Boise State game and the Warriors newfound penchant for creating turnovers.
Focusing on the fundamentals helped Hawaii force its last two opponents into critical miscues.

Extending that trend a third straight week won't be easy.

The Warriors (3-3, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) forced 10 turnovers in wins over Fresno State and Louisiana Tech, coming up with game-turning takeaways both nights. They'll next face a Boise State team that doesn't often hurt itself with mistakes in Friday's ESPN showcase on Bronco Stadium's blue turf.
Kaneshiro also has an injury report on Brysen Ginlack, Keala Watson, Malcolm Lane and Victor Clore.

Kaneshiro has some season stats and writes about the Warriors' short week.
Normally Mondays are devoted to film study plus some running, lifting and recuperating from the previous game. But with a nationally televised showdown at No. 15 Boise State coming up on Friday, the Warriors' plans will be compressed by a day as they began practice preparations this morning for their second road game against a nationally ranked opponent in a three-week span.
Ferd Lewis has a column about the Broncos seeking to avenge their loss to UH last season.
Each day the Boise State football team trudged up to the University of Hawai'i for Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl practice last December it did so passing a large banner over the facility that proclaimed its hosts as "Western Athletic Conference Champions."

Once, the Broncos loosened up on an adjacent field as UH was ending its practice with a spirited — and pointed — chant of "WAC Champs!"

During their week-long stay here, the Broncos said they tired of passing stores selling and passersby wearing "WAC Champion" T-shirts emblazoned with UH's logo.

So you can understand why Boise State, which politely bit its lip 10 months ago counting the time until they met again, might be looking forward to Friday's nationally televised reacquaintance with the Warriors at Bronco Stadium.
Dave Reardon writes about how some are having trouble adjusting to UH's new offense.
Despite back-to-back wins and generally improved all-around play, pockets of naysayers remain. A 24-14 win over LaTech? The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

There's already plenty of broken-record moaning about many things, including conservative play-calling and poor clock management.

It's called not giving an inferior opponent momentum headed into halftime. Somewhere along the line the expectation changed from doing the right thing in the long view of winning the game to trying to score three times in 49 seconds.
Also from the column, the line of the day:
Jones used to say, "We do what we do." Now it's, "Nobody knows exactly what we're going to do, including us." It's a defensive coordinator's nightmare.
