WitP: Colt, Bess, Pisa, Lelie, TC

Colt Brennan has been declared inactive for today's NFL season opener between the Redskins and Giants. So no garbage time for CB5. Booooo!!!!

UPDATE: I'm stupid. Thanks for the clarification, anonymous:
Most teams with 3 QBs will make the 3rd QB inactive, designating him as the emergency QB, so that they can free up a roster spot for an extra player.

Colt can still play, but if he plays then the 1st string/starter cannot re-enter the game.
Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel thinks Davone Bess will be activated for the Dolphins opener against the Jets.
Following through with coach Tony Sparano's philosophy of not coaching scared, the Dolphins plan to have Ted Ginn Jr. serving as the No. 1 receiver, and top kickoff and punt returner. Davone Bess is the second option, which means he'll likely be activated for Sunday's game
Bess is also rumoured to be Miami's #3 receiver.

Rams linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa talks about opening the season against the Eagles on Sunday.
“We can say we’re a lot better than last year, but until we go out there and prove that, it’s not going to count,” he said.

The first chance for the defense to bulk up its credibility comes Sunday in Philly against an Eagles offense that finished sixth in the league in total yards last year.

“It’s a great test for us,” Tinoisamoa said. “You have (running back) Brian Westbrook back there, and he’s one of the finest in the league, not only running the ball but catching the ball as well.”
Here's another article, this one from the Sacramento Bee, about Ashley Lelie possibly getting some playing time against the Broncos on Monday night.
"What I've got to do is get in my books and study," Lelie said.

Lelie is learning the "X receiver," or split end - Walker's position. Coach Lane Kiffin said it's the easiest to learn because there's less movement before the ball is snapped.

Kiffin isn't putting high expectations on Lelie after one day of practice. Kiffin said whether Lelie plays against the Broncos would depend on his ability to absorb the playbook.

"He looked good in his workout, so we signed him," Kiffin said. "We'll give him a chance to make the team, first of all, and then we'll give him a chance to play."
And Timmy Chang, who just joined the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, describes his strengths as a player:
Timmy Chang didn't see the need to get specific when asked what his strengths are as a quarterback.

"I throw the ball," Winnipeg's newest pivot said yesterday. "That's what I do."
He also talked about his time in Hamilton:
"I didn't play too good the chances I got to start there," he said. "I don't doubt myself. I know what I can do, but it's all about preparing and being ready when you get the call."

Chang will remain on the team's practice roster while they evaluate his talents.

"There's no timeline," Berry said. Let's get him evaluated, see what his development is, how accurate his throws are, how quickly he learns the system."
