Friday Videos

UHBows has uploaded an "Outside the Lines" report about the changes the UH football program has undergone since the start of the new year. It includes interviews with Greg McMackin, Solomon Elimimian, K. Mark Takai, Adam Leonard, Tyler Graunke and June Jones.

And CC has uploaded a KHON report about the possibility of "Hawaii 5-0" making a comeback as the entrance music for the UH football team. Afterwards, Kanoa Leahey and an excited Joe Moore talk about it.

I think the new songs that were added during Jones' tenure at Manoa, like the warrio chant, touchdown theme songs to name a few are great. It definately brings a strong vibe and energy to the crowd. I don't think bringing back the song "Hawaii 5-0" will do anything. If feels as thought opponents are playing against some old hags..as some in Hawaii would put it, Old farts. No disrespect to Mack for continuing the tradition but man, this is the 21st Century...a new generation and tradition all lifted by Jones' efforts to raise a dying program.

I agree with Badgerfan's stand on continuing what Jones' started and left. Look at it this way, do you think the theme song Hawaii 5-0 represents more of a cultural stand or the existing theme songs brought in by Jones'? What are the Hawaii Warriors representing...Hollywood or their cultural diversity throughout Polynesia? I say keep the existing theme songs. It sure gives opponents fans chicken skin when they hear it...I'm one of them.

Another analogy: Hawaii 5-0 and Ha'a? I don't see any correlation.

Looking forward to the game this coming season. All the best to the new coaches and players.

    Badgerfan and Gatorville,

Hawaii 5-0 brings pride to the players and fans. It is uniquely Hawaii and steeped in Warrior football tradition. If you think Hawaii 5-0 is only Hollywood, then you don't know Warrior football.

Nobody said that the band is limited to only Hawaii 5-0. I believe that other inspiring music will be played for the team.

By the way, Hawaii 5-0 and Ha'a both represent Hawaii football. In fact, Hawaii 5-0 has been a part of the football program a lot longer than the Ha'a. I love both. I get chicken skin from both.

Who thinks the program is "dying"? Nobody in Hawaii. Badgerfan, do you remember a guy named Al Noga? I'm pretty sure he played for UH against the Badgers back in the day when Hawaii 5-0 was played.
