Signing Day

Today's the day it becomes official for the UH commitments when they sign that national letter of intent. Jason Kaneshiro writes:
The fax machine will be the most-watched piece of equipment in the UH football office today as recruits begin submitting their signed letters of intent to finalize their commitment to join the Warrior program.

"I'm really excited with how everybody worked together in developing this recruiting class," McMackin said. "The coaches have squeezed a lot into three weeks, but I really feel good about what they've done."
Stephen Tsai has some details of the recruiting battles UH coaches faced.
Oregon State continued to recruit Falemalu even after he gave his verbal commitment to UH last weekend. SMU called Rausch's coach last Saturday — while Rausch was visiting UH. Earlier, SMU tried to entice Kennedy High (Calif.) cornerback Steve Christian to take a recruiting trip. San Diego State kept after defensive end Haku Correa of Damien Memorial School.

And California and Oregon hounded Tuiasosopo.

"I told them not to bother," Tuiasosopo said. "I told them I committed (to UH). Too late already."
Right on. PIAA is holding an NLI event at Honolulu Hale, where Tuiasosopo and others are expected to sign with UH in about 20 minutes from now. Check UH Sports Extra, the Warrior Beat and the message boards for continuing coverage today. I'll be posting and linking to as much news as I can.
