Lawrence Wilson / Colt / Soap Day

Former UH nose tackle Lawrence Wilson gets mentioned in an article about Baltimore Ravens rookies taking part in mini-camp.
"This is a learning experience for me right now and I'm taking it all one step at a time," said the young man born in American Samoa who impressed the Ravens by being one of the few to take detailed notes about everything that went on in the introductory meeting.

"There are some new things but what I've noticed the most is that everything is a lot faster and quicker. Hopefully, I can go out and work hard and do everything I'm supposed to do," Wilson said.
Lots of NFL teams to follow this year. Good luck to Ldub!

Kalani Simpson nitpicks the way Colt Brennan voiced his concerns about the facilities and parking situation.
But if you're going to drop a bombshell -- and that's what this was, and Brennan knew it when he did it -- you've got to make sure it comes out just right.
Make sure to run your thoughts by the copyeditors next time, Colt.

And Monday is Soap Day at the Honolulu Quarterback Club.
Three members of the Hawaii football team are among the guest speakers at tomorrow's Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting, which has been dubbed "Soap Day" following the much-publicized criticism over facilities last week by Warrior quarterback Colt Brennan.

Club members are being asked to donate soap for the Warrior locker room when attending the weekly luncheon at the Pagoda Hotel.

The three players are linebacker Solomon Elimimian, lineman John Estes and wide receiver Jason Rivers.
It's really cool, and yet kinda sad at the same time. Maybe the community can start donating sod for Cooke Field too.

Football is just one of the sports at UH. While soap may be a concern in the football locker room, other sports use locker rooms that are sparingly cleaned complete with cockroaches and red ants. Or how about practicing in the dark? The new track lights are just now up and running (they've been in the dark for some time) and over at the pool they are still in the dark. The lights are all burnt out and they won't be replaced. Instead of companies donating a year's supply of soap, could something be done about bringing all the facilities up to par? All UH sports would benefit from a bigger budget, but is soap the first place to start?

i agree that it's not just football, but the facilities as a whole. and not just athletics, but maintenance of the university, the classrooms, dorms, libraries, etc.

soap is the first place to start because it's ridiculously cheap and easy to replace, yet nothing has been done about it for months, if not years. it's emblematic of the whole problem. let's hope all this sparks some much needed change, which, with the dialogue colt's comments have created, appears to be the case. thanks for stopping by.
