Spring is Here

Stephen Tsai will have a recap, videos, etc. of the first day of spring practice on The Warrior Beat. And the good people at Sportshawaii.com will probably have recaps, photos, etc as well. Same goes for RSN. Be there!

UPDATE: Scott from Sportshawaii.com has posted pictures.

Via the Warrior Beat, Leila Wai has posted a video interview with June Jones.

UPDATE 2: Inside that June Jones interview page is also an interview with Colt Brennan as well as footage of Clarence Tuioti-Mariner, Kealoha Pilares and Mario Cox. It's a little spotty, so you might need to reload the page if it doesn't come up, or open another browser.

The UH Athletic Department also released this article:
"It's good to be out here again," Jones said after the morning session. "We usually limit the workouts for the veterans and let everyone else get a chance to show what they can do and this year is no different. We have some work to do on both sides of the ball and everyone is excited to jump in."
And at the bottom it lists the practice dates again:
2007 Warrior Spring Practice Schedule
April 2, 4-5, 9, 11-12, 16-19, 21, 23, 25-26, 28
UPDATE 3: Steve Uyehara of KGMB has a spring practice story. He talks to Colt and Bess about the schedule.
With a possible trip to New York at the end of the year, Colt's campaign may actually hinge on a strength of schedule, a schedule we have yet to see, even at the start of spring ball.

"As far as the schedule, we really don't need to worry about that until Fall Camp," Brennan said, "so this right now is just getting the holes, getting the squad ready for Fall Camp. Then we can start getting ready for that first game."

"How much are you guys hoping to see a big name come out when the schedule's dropped?" KGMB9 asked Warriors receiver Davone Bess.

"I just can't wait. That's what we're pretty much looking for," Bess replied. "I don't think Hawaii has ever had the opportunity to go BCS (Bowl Championship Series). And hopefully we get a big time school in there and upset them and get our school out there and get some publicity."
Hopefully.

UPDATE 4: Here's Jaymes Song's AP article about spring practice.
Bess and Ryan Grice-Mullen spent time at wideout to allow younger receivers to learn the slot position.

"I'm down to do whatever. If it helps the team, I'm there," Bess said. "(Jones is) the commander, I'm just taking orders."

Jones said he'll also do some shuffling on the offensive line and hopes to come out of spring with a "set group." The line lost three starters, Tala Esera, Samson Satele and Dane Uperesa.

"Hopefully, everybody will step up and take the place of the starters," said Hercules Satele, one of the two returning starters.

Satele said he wants to do his best to protect the team's prized quarterback.

"He has confidence in us to come back for his senior year. That means a lot to us," he said.

The team will also have to replace running back Nate Ilaoa. Several players practiced in UH's single-back system.

"We've got one back but we got about 30 guys, I think," Jones said. "Obviously someone wants to replace Nate."
