Rankings

Just saw this on The Warrior Beat and the Star-Bulletin. UH finishes 24th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Congratulations Warriors! Stephen has Colt Brennan's reaction in his post. The S-B has June Jones' reaction. But UH finished just outside of the Top 25 in the AP poll, landing at 26th. What's interesting is that Boise State, the only undefeated team, finished 5th in the nation, behind LSU and USC, both with two losses. BSU destroyed Oregon State, which barely beat USC, yet I guess that doesn't matter. Oh well. Someone did give them a first place vote. I wonder who? You can research here.

UPDATE: It was Greg Archuleta of the Albuquerque Journal. He explains:
The Broncos received a single first place vote in the poll – with Florida taking home the remaining 64 ballots. Greg Archuleta of the Albuquerque Journal broke from the pack and cast his vote for the Broncos.

Before the National Championship game, Archuleta told the Associated Press why he would consider a vote for BSU.

“Obviously, Ohio State has the tougher schedule and plays in the Big Ten with a bulls-eye on its back all year,” said Greg Archuleta, college football reporter for the Albuquerque Journal. “But if they lose I have no qualms about voting Boise State No. 1. They did what they had to do. They’ll be the only one undefeated.”
Sounds like a good reason to me!
