Hawaii 34, Colorado 17

HawaiiAthletics.com has a game summary along with links to a box score and post-game notes and quotes.
Senior quarterback Bryant Moniz rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns, while the UH defense shutout the Buffaloes in the first half in helping the Warriors pick up a season-opening win over a BCS squad, while also avenging last year's 31-13 loss to the Buffaloes in Boulder.
UH held Colorado to 17 yards rushing and 240 yards overall.

The UH defense has 7 sacks, all occurring in the second half. Paipai Falemalu had two of them.

The Star Advertiser's Paul Arnett has a game summary.

And here are game summaries from the AP, the Sports Network, and the Denver Post.

i wonder what their qb hansen thinks now after getting hit that many times with 7 sacks and even more knock downs??? he did ask for it. and you don't do that with a defense that was hungry like ours.

You are right, he did ask for it. The defensive line was solid. You could tell their running back was the real deal especially in space. Very good game plan against them even though they really did not have much scouting to go on for this new coaching. This game tells me that if Hawaii was part of the Pac-12, they really could be a middle of the road team if not better this year. If they beat Washington next week, the BCS bid is not out of the question this year. The only thing I can say is the wide receiver play was not impressive. They need to step it up next week.

Please stop with the "BCS Bid" talk. Let's go over it again. Bowls, both BCS and otherwise, are contractual arrangements. Unless UH is undefeated, they CONTRACTUALLY play in the Hawaii Bowl, PERIOD, no ifs ands or buts. If UH somehow climbs into a top ten position with only one loss, only then would it be possible to get a BCS bid. Remember, it is all about money and contracts. Nuf Said, Lets put this to rest once and for all.
