Mack's Press Conference
HawaiiAthletics.com has excerpts from Coach Mack's weekly press conference.
On injuries and adversity…Jason Kaneshiro has more news and notes from the presser. Some excerpts:
People forget we started this season with a brand new defense. We're playing a lot of young players, and young players make mistakes. We're not the same team we started in camp with. We have been beat up, we've been hurt. We lost our middle backer, our QB …we are a team who is fighting through adversity, and we have been all season. But we’re not making excuses.
I’ve got a team that’s a great bunch of guys that want to stick together. And coaches who are working their tail off. I don’t have time to deal with the negative out there. All I care about is my football team.
>> Quarterback Greg Alexander suffered a setback in his recovery from season-ending knee surgery. McMackin said Alexander had another operation Sunday night to treat an infection that had developed in his knee. Alexander had the original surgery on Oct. 3 after suffering torn ligaments in his knee against Louisiana Tech.
>> Defensive tackle Vaughn Meatoga might not make the trip to Idaho due to a persistent ankle injury. Meatoga has been limited in practice since suffering the injury against UNLV. “He’s our best tackle and he’s trying to do it, but it’s not healing,” McMackin said.
