Warriors in the Pros: Colt Brennan
Rich Campbell of Fredericksburg.com has a feature on Colt Brennan.
For as much as the Redskins would like to take a sixth-round pick and develop him into the franchise quarterback, they invested a first-round pick in Campbell back in 2005, and they're going to see this thing out with him.Colt showed off some "crazy dodgeball moves" today.
Meanwhile, though, Brennan has been challenged to win the backup spot from veteran Todd Collins. He'll get the bulk of the preseason playing time, and with Campbell entrenched, it will be his only chance to shine, barring injury.
"If Colt can go out and just run the game, make the checks, have great tempo, change cadence, I'd be absolutely thrilled," Meidt said. "It really comes down to execution for him, and to do that he has to be mechanically sound, he has to have an understanding of the system and where we want to go with the ball. If he does those things, I think touchdowns will happen. He's a playmaker. We know that."
The fan-favorite quarterback dodgeball drill made an appearance. Jason Campbell did well -- the high point of an otherwise up-and-down practice for him, I think. Todd Collins got hit a few times and, on the whole, looked much less evasive than Campbell. Colt Brennan took the field for the drill to a loud ovation, and proceeded to show off some crazy dodgeball moves. I'm not sure how well it would work in the games, but the assembled fans certainly seemd to enjoy it.He also showed off some crazy football moves.
