WitP: Colt, RGM, TC

Stephen Tsai has a Q&A with Colt Brennan.
His favorite UH team?
"We got so much love for our last year (in 2007) because we went 12-0. But my junior year, that was the best football team I've ever been on in my life. Hands down. We sent like six or seven guys to the league on defense. We never realized my junior year how good we were really were. The following year, we realized we were a good football team. Not as good as we were the year before, but we could beat the teams we were playing. That's how we won the close games."
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com has a few quotes from Colt about his opportunities this season.
"I gotta step in this year," Brennan said. "They've already made it clear that they're going to play me a ton in the pre-season and we gotta play four very talented teams and talented defenses and that's going to be my test."

But while Brennan remains diplomatic, his between-the-lines message is clear: Campbell could soon be out, and Brennan would like a chance to replace him.

"Right now it seems like it's in everyone's hands," Brennan said. "For Jason Campbell it's his last year, it's in his hands to go out and earn that second contract and earn that for him. And for me in the preseason it's my chance to go out there for the second year and prove that I belong and have a great preseason and show that I belong and maybe could be a starter one day."

Ryan Grice-Mullen gets praised by his BC Lions head coach.
In particular, he predicts a breakthrough season for a player who spent most of June standing around or riding an exercise bike — wide receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen. The Dreadhead is over his hamstring injury and is ready to ramble after failing to dress for any of last month's rehearsals.

"The guy, I believe, who's going to have a big year for us is Grice-Mullen," Buono said. "I haven't even talked about him. Grice-Mullen can be as explosive a player as there is in this league. You saw that last year in the few games he played. So when you look at a lot of things we're trying to do — and taking the pressure off Geroy [Simon] is one of them — I do believe we have athletes around him today that can more than do that."
The BC Lions play their 2009 season opener today against the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.

UPDATE: Game over -- BC lost to Saskatchewan 28 to 24, but Ryan Grice-Mullen had 3 catches for 39 yards.

And I guess you may have heard that former UH QB Timmy Chang was arrested and then released without charges yesterday for allegedly throwing a woman's camera on top one roof.
Chang, 27, was arrested at 7:35 a.m. at his Mililani home and was booked for investigation of one count of second-degree robbery. He was released without charges pending further investigation.

Police said the incident occurred shortly after midnight June 1 in the Pearlridge area. A large fight broke out and a 23-year-old woman told police she began to record the brawl on her camera.

A man, identified by police as Chang, allegedly told the woman to stop filming the fight. A struggle ensued, police said, and the man pulled the camera from the woman's wrist and threw it on the roof of a nearby building.
