GameDay: UH vs Cincinnati

Mr. Cut compiles game previews from KFVE, KGMB, KITV and KHON:

Stephen Tsai's gameday preview has projected lineups and breakdowns of the offense, defense and special teams for both UH and Cincinnati.

Tsai talks to Greg McMackin about facing the Bearcats.
"I don't want to make a big deal of the BCS thing," UH head coach Greg McMackin said. "I don't know how (the UH players) are treating it. I'm treating it like it's another ball game.

"It's the last scheduled game of the (regular) season," McMackin added. "We're not in a BCS game. We didn't have a good enough record. We're playing the No. 13 team in the country. They're a good football team. They're a well-coached team. It'll be a real challenge. That's what this game is to this football team."
Jason Kaneshiro's gameday preview has lineups, stats, breakdowns and this key matchup:
Hawaii offensive line vs. Cincinnati pass rush
Cincinnati’s pass rushers can keep offensive linemen on the defensive.

Connor Barwin, a former tight end who also played for the Cincinnati basketball team, leads the way with 10 sacks among his 13.5 tackles for loss. Lamonte Nelms is second on the team at 13 tackles for loss and 5 1/2 sacks.

“They’re real athletic, their ends are fast,” UH offensive line coach Brian Smith said. “I’d say both of them are real comparable to (Warriors defensive end) David Veikune. They run well, good change of direction, good motors.”
Bill Koch of the Cincinnati Enquirer has breakdowns and game keys in his scouting report.

Here are some quotes from Koch's game preview:
"Eleven wins has never been done in UC history," Kelly said. "This senior class has a chance to be record-setting."
"We don't want to go out at the end of the season as losers," said cornerback DeAngelo Smith.
"You can never sleep on a team like this," Goebel said, "especially in the WAC. They're not a BCS conference, but they always seem to send out good teams each year.

"When you watch them on film, they're fast. They love to hit. It's Senior Day, so you know they're going to come to play. They'd love to beat us since we're a BCS team."
Koch also writes that defensive end Lamonte Nelms, who was arrested last weekend, will play.

This is not the ND your father watched. Also they really never had 4 options towards a bowl game. Thanks to the Pac-10 ND got a chance to placy Hi. ND has not proven much this year and should not be a problem for Hawaii. If Hawaii play warior ball the way I have watched them play, it should be a great win for Hawaii. Go Wariors. good luck
