Cincinnati 29, Hawaii 24

What a tough, tough loss. To be up 24-10 points in the 4th quarter, with the defense keeping the Bearcats' offense in check through much of the game, dreams of making a statement against the Big East champs on Senior Night, only to let it slip away.... Glad the team gets to play one more game in the Hawaii Bowl. We'll find out soon enough who the opponent will be. It won't be a PAC-10 team since Arizona beat Arizona State, ensuring that there won't be enough bowl-eligible PAC-10 teams. Maybe Notre Dame?

Here are game wrap-ups from Stephen Tsai and Jason Kaneshiro.
Cincinnati added a dose of heartbreak to the emotion of senior night for Hawaii last night.

The 13th-ranked Bearcats rallied from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to send the Warriors to a 29-24 loss at Aloha Stadium.

Hawaii led 24-10 with 12:36 left in the game only to see the Bearcats reel off 19 unanswered points to stun the crowd.
And via ESPN.com, here's the AP wrap-up, which includes stats.

Although the Warriors do a great with the run and shoot offense, this was the 2nd time this year that the other teams defensive ends took over a game and made what we do not work. Time to go shopping for a couple of things this christmas. 1) Get quicker and better tackles for pass rushes. 2) If you cannot find tackles, modify the game plan with a 2 back set for this type of games. If the ends are on you and you have no answer, your QB will be on his back too many times and will get happy feet like he did in the 4th quarter because he realized he would get punished because of the lack of protection. 3) John Estes, Solomon Elimimians and the field goal personal fouls were crap. Too bad you are not able to review this. 4) Attack the defensive ends better by having designed rollout plays. The O-line either did a crappy job of protection or they were overmatched.

As for the officiating, they blew a big one but I blame the Hawaii coaching staff for not calling this one. Here is the scenario. On Cincy's last drive, when Mcmackin used his 2nd timeout to stop the clock. The game clock was not supposed to start because there was a holding call on the Cincy offense on 2nd down. They were supposed to get a 10 yard penalty and the clock was not supposed to start again until the snap. They marked off 10 yards than the game clock started again which Mcmackin burned his 2nd timeout on. Hawaii coaching staff has shown some really poor clock management this year that they need to improve on.
