Warriors in the Pros: Lelie, Manuwai, LaBoy, Bess

Ashley Lelie scored the first Raiders touchdown of the season, catching an 8-yard pass from JaMarcus Russell in the 4th quarter of tonight's blowout loss to the Broncos. Lelie ended the night with 3 catches for 37 yards.

Horrible news for Jacksonville Jaguar Vince Manuwai, who is out for the season with torn knee ligaments.
Manuwai sustained a torn ACL in the second half of Sunday’s loss in Tennessee and will undergo knee reconstruction surgery.
Manuwai represents a significant loss. He was the main force in the team’s run-blocking.

“He’s a powerful player. He’s a big part of our run game. He moves people,” Del Rio said of Manuwai, who has missed just one game due to injury in his six-year career.
Travis LaBoy was profiled by the Marin Independent Journal after his great game against the 49ers.
GIVEN that Travis LaBoy worshipped the 49ers as a kid in Marin and given that the 49ers didn't even pursue the 27-year-old, 6-foot-3, 260-pound pass rusher when he was a free agent in the offseason, LaBoy had just cause to spike the football in their face with 1:49 left in the game Sunday when he had a victory-sealing quarterback sack and fumble recovery.

LaBoy didn't spike the ball, however. He stole it.

"He's coming to the sideline trying to hide the ball," said LaBoy's brother, CJ. "He turned around and came over and handed it to me. It was pretty sweet."
And Dolphins coach Tony Sparano had some good things to say about Davone Bess in his press conference today.
(On if he would like to see more out of his special teams on returns and on coverage) – "Yes, since the day I got here it's something that we wanted to do a good job with. I was happy to see early in the game Davone Bess take the ball and do exactly what you want him to do; makes the first guy miss, which you need to do as a punt returner and he gets going towards the goal line and he ends with a 23-yard gain or a 25-yard gain. I thought it was a heck of a run.
(On using Davone Bess on returns instead of Ted Ginn) – "I just told you what I see in him. I see him able to make guys miss and break tackles. If you can make a guy miss and break tackles then I think you got a chance. Davone's done that the last couple times he's had opportunities to return the ball and he's going to do it a lot more."
