WitP: Colt, Ash, Hunter, Mel, Dolphins

Colt Brennan plays in the Hall of Fame game today on NBC, and I'll be here to overhype it. Chawan Cut has a news compilation with previews of the game from KFVE's Jason Tang, KITV's Rob DeMello and KHON's John Veneri. And KGMB's Mike Cherry has a report about the $200k June Jones will pay to UH.

Jeff, a crazed Warrior and Colt Brennan fan, has created a "Colt figure" based off a pass from last year's UH-Washington game. Check out the detail!

Jeff is the same guy who made the Colt as a Simpsons character image last season. Thanks Jeff!

Colt and the rest of the Redskins rookies and incoming players took a tour of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Colt, who won the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2006, was able to watch a video of Sammy Baugh at the Hall.

Ashley Lelie was seen rehabbing his strained calf yesterday.
Ashley Lelie was running routes and catching passes as part of his rehab. Lelie sustained a left calf strain a week ago.
Great news.

Fuzzylogic points out that former UH offensive lineman Wayne Hunter is on the New York Jets, and according to "The Cockpit," he's been doing well.
Offensive Line - The most encouraging news has been that backups Will Montgomery, Clint Oldenburg, and Wayne Hunter are having strong camps.
Here's his profile from NewYorkJets.com.

The Orange and Brown Report has been giving Melila Purcell bad-to-mixed reviews in Browns training camp.
Earlier in the week it was noted, Purcell was playing high and being pushed off the ball. Part of the problem became apparent Sunday as the defensive end struggled using his hands properly and getting off of blocks. If he were to come off the ball low and hard, and let his natural athleticism take over, he could become a bigger impact on the defensive line rotation.

In Dolphins camp, Reagan Mauia hasn't been getting very good write-ups recently. From the "Phish Tank" blog:
Another starter that has nearly lost his job is FB Reagan Mauia. FB Boomer Grigsby is catching anything near him, while Mauia is dropping passes. The Dolphins probably won’t carry 2 FBs, so Mauia is getting closer to being dropped himself.
...while Davone Bess continues to get positive reviews. From the "Phin Phanatic" blog:
Davone Bess is an undrafted rookie from Hawaii. So far, he has received the most attention on the field. Unlike many mini-camp hero’s, Bess is showing that he is also able to practice well in pads. While he too has had a few drops, Bess has been one of the more consistent WR’s and he is making a strong case for why he deserves to be on the final 53 and maybe even the active roster.
And Samson Satele did have one bad snap yesterday, but he seems to be a lock at starting center.
