Graunke :(

Jason Kaneshiro writes about Tyler Graunke being withheld from participating in training camp.

Tyler Graunke and Greg McMackin are vague about the reasons.
"I'm working on this," said Graunke, adding he did not want to comment further until the situation is clarified.

Head coach Greg McMackin said Graunke has "things to work on."
Stephen Tsai's sources, while still vague, provide a few more details, and it sounds bad.
According to several people in the know, quarterback Tyler Graunke will not have an easy time resolving the personal issues that will enable him to participate in training camp.
In the best scenario, he still would fall behind in the competition to succeed Colt Brennan. The reps that were going to be spread among four quarterbacks now will go to only Inoke Funaki, Greg Alexander and Brent Raush.
It’s a sad situation, especially since Graunke is truly a nice guy. Last year, Graunke kept alive the Warriors’ perfect regular season with a dramtic comeback victory over Nevada. It is hoped he can do the same for his UH career.
In Chawan's sportscast compilation from the previous post, KHON's John Veneri and KGMB's Liz Chun say Graunke's problems are academic-related, and he could miss his entire senior year. Here's a link to Chun's KGMB report.

No offense to loyal Graunke fans, but I had a bad feeling about him when he and Colt stepped foot onto campus. I guess in this case, first impression did speak volumes! I'd like to see Greg Alexander be the #1 guy, followed by Inoke and Rausch sharing the #2 spot.

    P.S
One final note about Graunke, for sure, this Phoenix isn't going to rise again. Go Dawgs!!!

    go dawgs? seriously?

if graunke can't rise from the ever-accumulating ashes, then i think funaki will do very well as starter. we'll see how the JC QBs do starting next week
