Watson, Rivers, Mauia, Bess

KGMB's Liz Chun has a story about UH football season tickets being on sale, and she mentions their search to name Greg McMackin's new coach's show.

Stephen Tsai writes that someone stole Keala Watson's new Under Armour shoes, and it's best for all concerned if they were returned.

Also from that post is a call for Warrior and Wahine fans to help distribute posters and schedule cards for UH football, women’s volleyball, and women’s soccer starting July 15th.
If someone would like to assist us, please contact Cha-Cha Kinilau (Kinilau@hawaii.edu) in the UH marketing department. She will make arrangements for the volunteers to pick up the necessary quantity of posters and schedule cards. We’ll ask them to provide us their distribution points, so we can make sure we’re not missing an area or covering it twice.
KHNL's Jason Tang interviews Jason Rivers, who talks about working hard to make it in the NFL.

Reagan Mauia is mentioned in this Inside the Dolphins post by Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post.
Reagan Mauia and Boomer Grigsby are battling at fullback, and Sparano likes the size and strength each player offers. But like the TEs, Sparano wants to see versatility from Mauia and Grigsby playing special teams and catching the ball out of the backfield.
And Matty I of The Phinsider has praise for Davone Bess in a post titled "Training Camp Primer: 3 undrafted rookies to watch". Here's an excerpt:
Many media OTA and mini-camp practice reports claim that Bess has looked good at times. And Tony Sparano even brought his name up when speaking about young players who have impressed. He really does remind of a guy who can develop into a great possession receiver. Sure, he's only 5'10, but he's got terrific hands and knows how to get open. That's one thing all Hawaii receivers know - how to get open and make plays.

Once camp kicks off, he's going to have to make plays, though, if he wants to stand out and make this team. The top 3 receivers are all but set in stone - Ginn, Wilford, Hagan. That means he'll be battling with the likes of David Kircus, Greg Camarillo, and a ton of other undrafted free agents. But of all those rookies, Bess has the most upside by far.

Good finds. I went to the link for the Palm Beach Post on Mauia and was reading a section that had the following:

    http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/miamidolphins/

The team signed 10-year veteran Steve McKinney because he has a combined 133 NFL starts at center and both guard positions.

Sparano said the team is set with four offensive linemen, LT Jake Long, RT Vernon Carey, C Vernon Carey and G Justin Smiley, whose side will be determined.

Am I missing something or is Samson Satele not looking too good? On the Miami site, it list Carey as a T, maybe the reporter or the coach made a mistake--I see, Vernon Carey is listed twice in the set four offensive linemen. Maybe he just forgot Satele?

    Chang staying put...for now

But Chang must be wondering what is in store for himself. As the current number four guy, he isn't likely to play anytime soon. Just how long he remains content to run scout team offence in practice remains, of course, to be seen.

thanks for the links, fuzzy. from everything else i've read, samson is the starting center for now and in the future. i think it's just a misprint.

as for TC, i've also read speculation that other teams have been interested in him recently, which i'm glad to hear. maybe he'll be traded to a team a little closer to hawaii, and also get some playing time.

He started coaching at Punahou, enjoying considerable success, before joining the staff at UH, where he developed all-conference quarterbacks in five of his nine seasons. He guided Timmy Chang to the most passing yards in college football history, and helped Colt Brennan throw more touchdown passes than any player in NCAA history. When Chang got hurt in 2001, little-used Nick Rolovich came in and thrived, passing for a ridiculous 1,548 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last three games of the seasons.
