Offseason, Learning Experiences, Trivia Book
Stephen Tsai writes about player participation in offseason workouts.
Derrick DePledge writes about the mistakes that UH administrators made and learned from (?) this past season.
Lance Tominaga talks about his new book, The Hawaii Sports Trivia Challenge.
And I've reposted the new banner poll, which I'll end tonight. For reference, here's the previous banner, which some of you still like. Is it because of "Warriors Will Throw (You Off the Pali)"? I wanted to get rid of that title because it's kinda corny, and no one really calls it that anyway, but let me know what you think...
UPDATE: Thanks to all who voted.
UH players receive enough money for summer school, but not much else. Even star players, like Seattle-raised linebacker Adam Leonard, need to find ways to pay the rent.Tsai includes photos of Royce Pollard, Aaron Kia, CJ Allen-Jones and CJ's moped (!).
That is why those who can’t make all of the unsupervised workouts should not be judged too harshly, and those who can should be praised.
And there also should be some empathy for some Mainland players who choose to go home for a few weeks. Some haven’t been home in 11 months.

I like the stories you find daily.
The Derrick DePledge story is good except that Chancellor Hinshaw, like Frazier never ever apologizes for anything wrong. She seems to have learned from Frazier not to openly acknowledge what they have done wrong. Like Frazier, Hinshaw says the right things--but does either Frazier or Hinshaw really mean what they say? Are they merely covering their okole because they are awaiting the decision by the Ethics Commission?
My feelings are that the UH Administration doesn't do enough learning from all the mistakes they have made--and they have made a lot. Think about it, if Frazier learned from every mistake he made, that guy would be the smartest man in the World! All Frazier had was a smart mouth and Hinshaw seems very similar--although I hope I am wrong about Hinshaw and that she learns fast about doing things properly and ethically.

quote of the day!
actually, i like hinshaw. she seems to understand the importance of UH athletics, much more than the last chancellor, and is more open-minded. also, i like her hats. but we'll see. i think having jim donovan as AD will help a lot. he is a builder of bridges and opener of lines of communication.
