Colt to New York (w/UPDATE)

Colt Brennan is a Heisman finalist! From Dave Reardon:
Colt Brennan is the University of Hawaii's first Heisman Trophy finalist.

"Awesome," coach June Jones said. "It's a great achievement for Colt and he's very deserving."

Brennan will be on a flight to Newark, N.J., on Thursday night, headed to New York for the Saturday night ceremony announcing the winner of college football's biggest individual award.
More from the Advertiser:
"This is great for the state and the school," Jones said. "When has that ever happened for our school? Never. It'll probably never happen again."
Right on.

UPDATE: Here's a CC compilation of tonight's KHON news, with Kanoa Leahey breaking the story earlier this evening. It also includes a segment by Gina Mangieri, who reports that the UH Athletic Department's allotment of tickets is already SOLD OUT. Holy crap. But that's not all - apparently UH, in anticipation of travel problems, had already given back some of the alloted 17,500 tickets back to the Sugar Bowl before they went on sale...

Check out Chawan Cut's Youtube page for more compilations of yesterday's news, as well as the KGMB, KHON, KITV and KHNL sites. I'm sure there will be a lot more news about the Heisman, the ticket sales, and the travel problems tomorrow.

    Tombo-

I just read your blog and then watched the video from KHON when they reported that UH GAVE BACK TICKETS??????? WHAT THE f@4%&! My brother was intending as a season ticket holder to get tickets for myself and two others on the mainland tomorrow, and now we learn they GAVE THEM BACK???? Incredible. WTF- There are thousands of UH fans transplants on the mainland that would buy and fly (for instance, we were going to fly out to Houston, meet the family, and then drive over, and don't believe all the 'there aren't any air seats left'hype because there are into alternate nearby cities, just check on Expedia or another travel website, and if you have to go a day earlier or leave later so be it. The key thing was getting tickets, and now to have that be the lynchpin pulled out after only ONE day of sales, and none to the general public!!!!!! Crazy!!!! We are condemmed to be the small time program if we don't travel well- we won't ever get a sniff again. They should have sold all the tickets they could and then let the general public figure out how to get up to the mainland, or if on the mainland, to travel. Its outrageous! I don't know who advised them to do this, but after supporting the team this far, why wouldn't you go all out instead of pulling a lame decision like this!!!!!! That person needs to be terminated, or removed from the decision making exercise- sheez-

    Oh and Tom-

Its a real shame that the Stan Sherrif Arena is not available for a mass viewing of the game, that would have been sweet. Still, I have hope that the Mayor will come through with a Football on the Beach viewing in Waikiki or some such place, or that the Blaisdell or Shell can be rigged up. Wishful thinking I know, given how they handled the tickets...but they've got a month to figure it out. I'd first thought doing it at Aloha would be great, but the screen is too small for the capacity there...

Oh man....read the latest news and I'm feeling sick! It's so embarassing (I was hoping Hawaii's decision makers wasn't going to do something LOLO like this in front of the whole nation)!!! It's so important for the fans to have an opportunity to support the Warriors for the big game...the Warriors NEED us there!!! I don't want to get sucked up in the negative vibe and am hoping for a positive solution.

    Tombo,

I want names. Who did this? How stupid can this administration be?
Was the Frazier again?????? To push and push to gain a BCS bid and at the same time give the tickets back is unbelievable.

    WHO MADE THIS DECISION????

i just feel sick about it for all the fans who wanted to go and already made plans. definitely one lolo decision, and looks like it was made by UH and the WAC -- i made a new post with today's article. the thing about this is, even if you can get tickets elsewhere, this whole fiasco reduced the amount of UH fans sitting TOGETHER at the stadium. just a complete lack of faith in the fans.
