BYU 41, Hawaii 20

It was a tough season with a lot of injuries, and with yesterday's loss to BYU there will be no Hawaii Bowl for UH. It was a frustrating year, but there's a lot of talent coming back next year. We'll see how this offseason goes. Thank you and aloha to all the seniors. HawaiiAthletics.com has the game summary.
Trailing 13-10 at the half, the Cougars (9-3) scored 34 unanswered points, including 28 in the third quarter, to put the game out of reach. The Warriors only managed 89 yards of total offense in the second half.

With the loss, the Warriors (6-7) failed to reach the seven wins necessary to qualify for the hometown Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl. UH finished the season with a losing record for the second time in three seasons and for just the third time in the past 11 years.

Coach Mac has got to go if the Warriors expect to be a contender!!!

If Fresno fired Pat Hill after all those good years, how could we keep Mac Appen!

IMO, they should give Mac another year. I don't like the firing of Pat Hill, but he did have several consecutive losing seasons. Meanwhile, Mac has taken Hawaii to a bowl twice in that same time.

Nobody is going to argue that there isn't a lot that needs to be fixed. But, I think the next season will serve as a much better test for what needs to be done with the coaching staff. The enourmous loss of starters and unusually high injury list made this season a bit of an anomally. Next season, we'll have david graves with some experience under his belt teaming up with a bunch of receivers that have shown promise this season. With all of Jone's players gone, we'll begin to see if Mac's recruits can develop to a similar level of skill. It should be made clear that it will be a decision-making year for Mac's future.

But at least give him this shot.

    Another thing:
Hawaii fans love to call for the firing of coaches after a single losing season. I usually expect this bloodthirst from a fanbase that packs the stadium every week regardless of their team's record (you know, like UW). The fairweather Hawaii fanbase has trouble scraping together 30k people for the average game. If the fans don't get excited next season for the new MWC opponents, I'm going to begin to wonder if the state really deserves a better team.

Even with all the injuries, this team should have made it to a bowl game. loses to San Jose state and a loss to Utah State at home was pathetic at best. From what I seen watching those game it was he coach that loss it and not the players. Coach Mac is the prolem for many of the teams losses since he took over from coach Jones, Mac doesn't know how to keep his team motivated beause when they are pumped up and doing great he tells his plyers to calm down and brings them down a notch which causes them to become less effective and there it is, game over for the home team!!! Mac sucks, plain and simple, but knowing the hawaii athletic department they will keep him until he has 5 straght lossing season and everyone just losses interest in watching them lose and no recruits wants to come here and play. Get rid of him before the team gets to the point of no return.

And as far as Hawaii packing the stands thats BS they didn't even have a single game sell out the year they went undefeated much less ever.

I saw bring back June jones and Jerry Glanville...probably the best duo of coaches on offense and defense the warriors have seen in a long time. If not Glanville...then demote McMackin to Defensive coach.

Plus, I knew BYU was gonna win...I guess my guess of ahead of 24 points was a little to much, just over by 3 points, like my previous 3 guesses on other game results for Hawaii.

New change is good for the Warriors, now that they will be beginning a new conference...its about time, no offense. All the best to the warriors! I hope u later on give Boise a run for their money...Im tired of the smurf turf...someone's gotta change that hideous color of a field.
