Warriors in the Pros: Veikune, Purcell, Hunter, Brennan

The Orange and Brown Report has a Q&A with David Veikune. Here's an excerpt:
Starting with the uncertainty of what position you seem destined to play for the Cleveland Browns, could we elaborate on where the staff is looking to cement your talents?

“They have me as being versatile, so, I’ve been everything: hand on the ground, inside, outside. I think they [the coaching staff] are just trying to get a feel for what I do best. Definitely a lot of special teams as well. Every single thing I’ve already been on, so I really don’t know where they see me yet. It’s really up in the air until season time and preseason games.”
Robert Collias of The Maui News takes a look at the players with Hawaii ties on the Cleveland Browns, including Melila Purcell and David Veikune.
Veikune, who at 6-foot-2 and 257 pounds is two inches taller and 28 pounds heavier than Maiava, said he has never experienced anything like the crowd of 4,000-plus that showed up for the Browns' first practice nine days ago.

''Man, I have never seen this,'' Veikune said. ''When I first came out here and saw this, I was like, 'Wow, this is the NFL.' I have never seen so many people out at practice. They are great fans, and Cleveland is a great place.''

Veikune remembers being on the UH team with Purcell in 2006.

''Mel is just a great guy and it is just reminiscent of all that, which for me is a great thing,'' Veikune said. ''Having all four of us here is great. It definitely helps, especially if anybody gets homesick, you can always lean on them. It is definitely a great thing to have some support.''

TheJetsBlog.com takes a look at the versatility of Wayne Hunter.
Think he’s too big? Go talk to Brandon Manumaleuna, a 6-2, 295 pound TE for the Chargers … Hunter’s a big boy at over 300 pounds, but he did test out well with 37 reps, a 31 inch vert and a 5.10 40 yard dash at his Combine back in 2003.

Hunter’s familiar with the role as he played it some for Schotty last year. He’s not taking up an extra roster spot because he’s the backup tackle anyway, and he clearly knows how to block on the edge from his work at Tackle. Wayne Hunter is not going to be doing the team any favors by running 20 yard out patterns, but the team doesn’t need him to right now, they need someone who can chip a pass-rusher or crack on a running play.

Colt Brennan had his arm looked at today, but appears to be fine.
Colt Brennan was spotted having his arm looked at by the training staff and seemed unusually tentative during his work in drills, but said afterward that he felt fine and that his arm was just tired from a combination of strenuous throwing and weightlifting yesterday, an assessment that Coach Zorn agreed with. "We threw a lot of balls yesterday and all of the arms were a little bit tired today," Zorn said. "He'll be fine."
