WitP: Pisa, Colt, Bess, Veikune, Mouse

Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com writes about Pisa Tinoisamoa's first day as a Bear.
Participating in his first OTA practice with the Bears Monday, Pisa Tinoisamoa appeared to be as excited as a kid modeling his little league uniform for the first time.

At one point the veteran linebacker removed his helmet, held it front of his face and smiled as he glanced at the “C.” It was as if he wanted to make sure that signing with the Bears on Friday wasn’t a dream.

“This is a great place to be,” Tinoisamoa said following the workout. “It’s beautiful. The working environment here is conductive to my growth as a football player, and I really mean it. Coming here and experiencing this is great for me.”
Dan Steinberg of the DC Sportsbog writes about the Redskins having two recent Heisman Trophy finalists on their roster: Chase Daniel and Colt Brennan. They both talk about meeting at the 2007 Heisman trophy ceremony and competing against one another on the Redskins.
Brennan has called Daniel a few times since he signed with the Redskins, took him out to dinner the first time he came to Redskins Park, and has treated his fellow Heisman finalist's arrival as a good thing, even though they could wind up competing for the same job.

"Oh, I was stoked," Brennan said, of his reaction to Daniel's signing. "You never know who's gonna show up. I knew Chase was a good guy, and that's all that matters. I've been around football long enough to know that it's a game, it's a competition, but the best thing you can ask for is a good guy. That makes for healthy competition. That's what it's all about."
Redskins 360 has one mention of Colt during today's OTA.
* Quarterback Colt Brennan spent several minutes after practice throwing 50-yard passes to a member of the equipment department.
The Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly has a few things to say about Davone Bess.
...and second-year receiver Davone Bess, who is looking pretty thick these days.

If Ginn's head was swimming in his first and second year, I wonder why Bess' wasn't?

Or maybe he was, and the Dolphins can expect improvement from the former Hawaii standout.
Kelly points out a radio interview with Bess from WQAM. You may have to find it on the right player window.

If you're in the Westlake, Ohio area on June 6th you can get David Veikune's autograph.
Come down to Crocker Park in Westlake, OH on Saturday, June 6 for a special Cleveland Browns "Meet The Rookies" event.

Each member of the 2009 Browns rookie class - including first-day picks Alex Mack, Brian Robiskie, Mohamed Massaquoi and David Veikune - will be on-site to sign autographs and meet with fans.

Admission is free.
And Mouse Davis, former UH coach and godfather of the run-and-shoot, is retiring.
Although not totally unexpected, the Portland State football program suffered a blow today when offensive coordinator Mouse Davis stepped down from his position, ending a long-time affiliation with Head Coach Jerry Glanville and the Viking program.

Davis, who has spent 50+ years in the football coaching ranks, created his legend at Portland State in the late 1970s with the Run-and-Shoot offense and his famous quarterbacks, June Jones and Neil Lomax.
All the best to Mouse!
