JoPierre Davis Arrested
The Honolulu Advertiser reports that defensive back JoPierre Davis was arrested earlier today, and has been suspended from the team indefinitely. I hope he's not guilty of what he's being accused of. Geez.
UPDATE (1/20/10): Davis reached a plea deal.
UPDATE (1/20/10): Davis reached a plea deal.
A former University of Hawaii football player had sexual assault charges against him dropped on Wednesday as part of a plea agreement.
JoPierre Davis hopes to clear his name and move on to a career in professional football.
Davis was originally charged with seven felonies. However, in consultation with the alleged victim, prosecutors agreed to seek no jail time, drop all the sexual assault charges and accept a plea to misdemeanor assault, trespassing and drug possession.
Davis apologized to the victims, his family and the university.
"I let a lot of people down by my actions and I should not have acted like that," Davis said.

Agreed. I am not a Hawai'i fan but I sure do hate players like this. Does this kid know what some people would do to be in his shoes (playing college football at a great school). Guess not. Oh well. You can only hope that this kid either gets his priorities in order or stays in jail for the rest of his life. Hitting a woman is worse than drugs and burglary. I hope someone in jail teaches him a lesson.
Have fun in jail JoPierre Davis. You're gunna be there for a while.

The degree of ignorance displayed in the above comments is sad. No one knows the details surrounding the case and until JP Davis is found guilty, I don't think these comments are warranted. This kid has a family and people who are pulling for him. He has worked very hard to be a leader amongst his peers on the team. Let's help our youth instead of tearing them down.
