Graunke Interview, Call the Coach, Na Koa Lunch (UPDATED)

Some stuff from the radio....

Rob & Russ interviewed Tyler Graunke this morning. The audio is up on the AM1500Hawaii.com website.

Over at ESPN 1420 AM, Call the Coach with Greg McMackin starts in a few. Listen to the radio or the streaming audio over at espn1420am.com.

UPDATE: Some notes from the show below.
  • UH rushed a lot in the 4th quarter out of respect for Ron McBride, and also because they wanted to work on the running game.

  • Leon Wright-Jackson has a strain in his arch -- but Mack thinks he'll be good for OSU. LWJ felt a lot better today.

  • They should know tomorrow if Daniel Libre will be okay, but Mack said he'd be surprised if Libre played.

  • Jake Heun does have a redshirt year available, but he's working to get back from his injury. David Farmer may be back soon.

  • Jake Ingram will spend many years in the pros as a long snapper. He's so valuable to the team, so he won't play any other position even though he could.

  • On Oregon State, Sammie Stroughter is great, gonna be a first round draft pick.

  • Their running backs are Florida-quick.

  • They're a big-play offense.

  • Gonna have a lot of Hawaii fans at the Oregon State game.
And over at SportsHawaii.com, uhwarriors has a great report from yesterday's Na Koa luncheon at the Willows. Here's an excerpt:
Josh Leonard had an outstanding game dominating the line of scrimmage and was named the defensive player of the game. Leonard and Keala Watson had very good games clogging the interior.

David Veikune and John Fonoti also had very good games. They played their techniques well and carried out their assignments well. Coach Mack showed several plays where Fonoti stood up the offensive lineman and seal off the outside gap.

Brashton Satele had a good game and is getting better.

is it me or does Graunke sound a bit too cocky? Wish we had a guy like Colt all over again...true representation of what being humble and hungry means, on and off the field.

its good to have confidence. No worries about the tude. Graunke will take quite a few hits this year hanging in the pocket like CB did last year. Also, we should not compare any QB to CB because he is truly special.
