Inoke Funaki to Start
Inoke Funaki will start against Weber State.
P.S. Here's the results of yesterday's poll, Who should be UH's starting QB against Weber State?
Head coach Greg McMackin today announced that Inoke Funaki will be the starting quarterback for the University of Hawaii football team's home opener against Weber State Saturday at Aloha Stadium.
McMackin said the move gives Funaki a full week to prepare for Weber State.More info from the Star-Bulletin:
UH head coach Greg McMackin said Funaki’s performance late in Hawaii’s 56-10 loss to Florida factored into the decision to elevate the junior to the top of the rotation. Greg Alexander started against the Gators and was followed by sophomore Brent Rausch.Fu-moxie!

Just curious to see how the same poll did on Sportshawaii--was it similar? I would think so but who knows, they may see things differently.
Also, I know this was not a popularity poll and should not supersede the coaches better more knowledgeable decision making but I hope Rausch and Alexander don't give up trying to get better. As for Graunke, keep on trying to get up to speed--we haven't given up on you.
As for Coach Mack, at least he is open minded about things--he is willing to change if someone performs better. I see a good future with Coach Mack.

sportshawaii poll results:
Graunke 23% 23% [ 22 ]
Funaki 38% 38% [ 37 ]
Rausch 33% 33% [ 32 ]
Alexander 4% 4% [ 4 ]
Total votes : 95
i'm glad the coaches are open-minded as this mostly new offense gets settled. will be interesting to see how graunke performs in practice this week and especially in the bye between oregon state and SJSU

Funaki should have played early in the game before Florida. Yes, Georgia game. I think he would have made a dent. He was dissed the beginning of this season. You gotta have "faith" in the local boys too.
