LaBoy Signs with Cardinals / Call the Coach
Another big contract for a former UH football player. Travis LaBoy signed with the Cardinals today.
Free agent defensive end Travis LaBoy has reached agreement with the Arizona Cardinals on a five-year, $22 million agreement, including $7.5 guaranteed money.Congratulations to Travis! CardinalInsider.com says that LaBoy will move from defensive end to outside linebacker.
Travis LaBoy wanted a greater role and will get one with the Cardinals. He'll play mostly outside linebacker and will replace Calvin Pace in the starting lineup....and via Sportshawaii, a reminder that Greg McMackin will have his "Call the Coach" debut live at the Willows tonight.
LaBoy, a second-round pick out of Hawaii in 2004, has spent his entire four-year career with the Tennessee Titans. During that time, he has racked up 105 tackles and 19.5 sacks.
Although he played defensive end with the Titans, LaBoy (6'3", 260 pounds) will move to linebacker in Arizona's 3-4 scheme. The Cardinals made a similar switch with Pace last season and the payoff was huge, allowing Pace to play himself right out of GM Rod Graves' price range.
