Blaze's Hit, Colt's Comments, Blogs, Etc.

I know this blog is on video overload right now, but here's another one. More game highlights from ESPN, which includes a clip of Blaze Soares' HUGE HIT on Boise State's Jeremy Avery. Woooooo!!! It also has some post-game comments from Colt. Thanks to UHBows.

Also, check out today's post by Stephen Tsai for some day-after musings and links to video highlights from Leila Wai. And check out Dave Reardon's post and the comments about UH taking a knee to end the game instead of trying to punch it in from less than a yard out.

Here's an update to the breakdown I wrote earlier. It clarifies a few more things..

    --

Here's a short breakdown I wrote on Hawaii's BCS chances. I am writing
this after the Kansas loss but before the new BCS rankings come out.

The magic BCS ranking to get to is #12. Hawaii is currently #15.
Being in the top 12 of the BCS guarantees Hawaii a BCS bowl but being
in the top 16 makes them eligible for an at large bid which they would
likely get if they finish off Washington.

With #9 Oregon and #13 Texas losing today, Hawaii should move up to
#13. The interesting team is #6 Arizona State. I wonder if they will
fall behind Hawaii after losing to #11 USC? Considering USC is a 2
loss PAC-10 and ranked #11 I would think a now 2 loss Arizona State
team would be ranked about the same and still be ahead of Hawaii.
Oregon will fall much further than Arizona State because they got
shutout by an unranked team and their starting QB is done for the
season. This will affect the human polls which are part of the BCS
    ranking.

Even if Hawaii is at #13 come Sunday evening there is still hope to
move up to #12. #8 Virginia Tech will be playing #14 Boston College
in the ACC Championship game. One of those teams will lose which
would likely drop the loser behind Hawaii, moving Hawaii to #12. Not
to mention #10 Oklahoma still has #4 Missouri. If #4 Missouri loses
they would still be in the top 10 so you want #10 Oklahoma to lose
which would likely drop them behind Hawaii. USC still has UCLA and if
Arizona State doesn't fall behind Hawaii they still have Arizona.

The only team that has a realistic chance at jumping Hawaii is #18
Tennessee. They had an impressive win over Kentucky on the road and
play #1 LSU for the SEC title next week.

This is what you want to happen next week to help Hawaii's chances:

-Oklahoma lose to Missouri --Oklahoma would likely fall behind Hawaii
-Boston College lose to Virgina Tech --This doesn't really matter.
Hawaii just needs this game to be played so one of these teams will
    fall behind them.
-USC to lose to UCLA --USC would likely fall behind Hawaii
-Arizona State to lose to Arizona --If Arizona State is still ahead of
Hawaii when the rankings come out tomorrow, losing this game would
cause them to fall behind Hawaii. If Arizona State is behind Hawaii
when the rankings come out tomorrow, a loss would prevent them from
    possibly jumping Hawaii.
-Tennessee to lose to LSU --If Tennesee wins out they will be a top 10
team. A loss top LSU assures they will be behind Hawaii
-All of Hawaii's opponents to win --This helps Hawaii's SOS which is
keeping them down in the computers.

The bottom line is take care of a very competitive Washington team
next week (strongest SOS in the country) and Hawaii has a very good
shot at getting into BCS bowl, likely the Sugar Bowl vs. LSU.

    ...Ryan in Louisiana
    Go Hawaii and LSU!

    Tombo,

I'm an lifelong LSU fan. However, I got on the Hawaii bandwagon mid last year. If Hawaii plays LSU I will be pulling for my Tigers of course but I would like to prove to my SEC friends that Hawaii is no joke and would put up 30+ points on us or any other team in the nation.

I don't have an active blog but I posted it here: http://rmcc4444.blogspot.com/2007/11/breakdown-of-hawaiis-bcs-chances.html

Feel free to use whatever parts of it you want.. I also sent it to The Warrior Beat so he might put it up there.
