Travis LaBoy Update / Magic Temple

Travis LaBoy, coming off of knee surgery, is back, leaner and meaner.
Titans defensive end Travis LaBoy is hoping less will mean more this fall.

LaBoy, who returned to the practice field this week after missing significant time following knee surgery, is down about 13 pounds from the 278 pounds he carried into training camp last year.

Now he's closer to what he weighed in college, when he was a pass-rushing demon at Hawaii.

"When I came out of college, I weighed 263, and before last year (one of my coaches) wanted me to get a little bigger, but I got a little too big, I think," LaBoy said. "Now I am just trying to get comfortable, and trying to figure out where I play the best.
"I'm not a sports trainer, but I feel better.''

...

Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz likes faster defensive ends who can get upfield and after quarterbacks.
"My thought with those guys has always been — weigh as much as you can, to run the fastest that you can," Schwartz said. "In other words, if you can gain 10 pounds and it doesn't affect your speed and quickness, then gain 10 pounds. But if you gain 10 pounds and you lose a tenth on your 40, then lose the weight.
Glad to hear he's doing better. Let's hope he'll do another weekly Life in the Pros diary like he did for the Star-Bulletin last year. Big thanks to Garret from UH Warrior Quotes for pointing out this article.

And tickets for June Jones and the Magic Temple are on sale.
The video production of June Jones and the Magic Temple and a special Magic of Polynesia show will be held June 15 at the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. It starts at 6 p.m. Proceeds for the Na Koa Football Club will fund summer school tuition for Warrior athletes. The Magic Temple video features Jones, offensive line coach Dennis McKnight and Warrior football players.

Tickets are $125 and can be purchased online at www.etickethawaii.com or through the UH Ticket Office at 944-2697.
Here's a trailer for the show that couz96797 put up online.

You can see a higher quality version of it on the Na Koa website, along with press releases, etc. Let's hope they eventually sell DVDs of the entire video, especially since there was some great acting by Dennis McKnight in the previous version of this trailer. But for now, if you want to see it all, gotta go to the show!
